Johnson, Patricia Jean
Patricia Jean Johnson, 85, of Anamosa, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from an acute form of leukemia. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at the United Methodist Church, Anamosa. The Rev. Laurie Riley will officiate at the service. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. before funeral services on Monday. Burial will be at Springville Cemetery in Springville.
Patricia is survived by her sister, Marguerite Olive Taylor Upham of West Union; her brother, Fred (Peggy) Taylor of La Mesa, Calif., and their daughter, Linda Taylor; a niece, Pam (Larry) Robinson of Mechanicsville; a niece, Conni (Jim) Doser of Amana, and their children, Kati and Matthew Doser; a great-niece, Yvonne (Dave) Bennett of Lisbon, and their children, Samantha and William; and a great-nephew, Wesley (Jasmine) Robinson, and their children, Wyatt and Avery.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard; five brothers and a sister.
Patricia was born June 13, 1926, to Fred Glen Taylor and Jenny Josephine Dunbar Taylor in Springville, Iowa. Pat graduated from Springville High School on May 10, 1944, and attended Cornell College. Patricia worked at Merchants National Bank and Sears in Cedar Rapids before being united in marriage to Leonard Elwood Johnson on March 23, 1953.
Patricia's kindness and concern for others showed in every conversation she engaged in. She loved animals, especially “Teddy Bear,” her beloved Australian Shepherd.
Patricia was an avid reader and her love of history, music, dancing and a good story filled her life. She shared her days with fellow residents and friends at the Anamosa Care Center. Patricia never lost her concern for others and appreciated all who helped her.
She will be missed by family and friends.
