Johnson, Louise
Louise Johnson, 88, of Shellsburg, formerly of Independence, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton. She was born on June 20, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of George and Elizabeth “Bessie” (Zobeck) Sadlon. On November 23, 1946, she and William Marion Johnson were married in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death in 1980. She was proud to be a farm wife and was actively involved in the farm until retiring in 1993.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Judith Finger of Vinton, and Karen (James) Hardy of Phoenix, Ariz.; one son, David (Diane) Johnson of Urbana; and one daughter-in-law, Susan Johnson of Independence. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Karie (Shannon), Chris (Daleea), Kim (Gary), Melanie (Aaron), Nick (Amy), Melissa (Joe), Helen (David), Lisa, Billie Jo (Ryan), Andy (Ashley), and Emily; 26 great-grandchildren, Carly, Marissa, Lindsay, William, Sydney, Caiden, Jacob K., Maggie, Cody, Bryce, Kris, Madeline, Mason, Austin, Aiden, Avery, Hunter, Lauren, Lizzy, Jacob J., Morgan, Haley, Toby, Rowdy, Zachary, and Alayna; one brother, Edwin Sadlon of Manchester; one sister, Lucille Hatfield of Shellsburg; and one sister-in-law, Olive Sadlon of Cedar Rapids.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Charles Johnson; one brother, Robert Sadlon; one son-in-law, Larry Finger; one brother-in-law, Lloyd Hatfield; and one sister-in-law, Kathleen Sadlon.
Funeral services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at the White Funeral Home in Independence. Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Online condolences may be left at .
