Johnson, Lois Mae
Lois Mae Johnson, 90, of Iowa City, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the Iowa City Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. Services will begin at noon Saturday at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City, where the family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City.
Lois was born Feb. 4, 1922, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Geneva (Koser) Allen. She graduated from Oxford High School. Moving to Iowa City in 1952, Lois worked for 28 years as a mold operator at Oral B Laboratories in Iowa City, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of Iowa City Women of the Moose and was an avid bowler. She was on a league with co-workers at Oral B and the league traveled to many tournaments around the United States.
Survivors include her children, Jay (Linda) Johnson of Iowa City and Norma (Ron) Heck of Coralville; a sister, Lucille Stockman of Oxford; grandchildren, Mark (Leanne) Vitosh, Cole (Wendy) Johnson, Tami (Tom) Beebe and Amanda (Mike) Strzyzewski; and great-grandchildren, Ashley and Abbey Vitosh, Parker and Johanna Johnson and Colton, Collin, Cooper and Camden Beebe.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Warren; and a sister, Wilma Kinney.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Iowa City Hospice or a charity of one's choice.
