Johnson, Hugh D.
Hugh D. Johnson, 50, of Marion, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, with a vigil beginning at 4 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; children, Courtney and Dailey Johnson, both of Marion; his mother, Jacqueline Johnson of Burlington; sister, Maureen Johnson of New York, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Campbell; his in-laws, Ronald and Dorothy Putzler of Aurora, Ill.; and brother-in-law, Ron Putzler of Yorkville, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh R. Johnson.
Hugh was born Aug. 2, 1961, in Springfield, Ill., to Hugh and Jacqueline Johnson. He graduated from Davenport Central High School and received his bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Iowa in 1984. He owned and operated his own company dealing with protective coatings and linings.
Hugh loved to hunt, fish, and barbecue. He was an avid Hawkeye fan, enjoyed tailgating at the Iowa football games, and was a proud supporter of his children's activities.
Hugh was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
