Johnson, Eulalia
Eulalia I. Johnson, 83, of 1379 Hertz Dr. SE, died Dec. 4, 2009, following a short illness. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Mel Ramos of Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are her three daughters, Nannette Hogan of Cedar Rapids, Pamela Yoder and husband Gary of Swisher, and Patricia Koopman and husband Terry of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Nina Mayer and husband Lauren McAllister of Cedar Rapids, and Ileta Faldet of Decorah; a stepson, Jerry Johnson of Arkansas; her beloved dog, Whitney; several stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lyle, her son Douglas, a brother Palmer Martens, and son-in-law Jon Hogan.
Eulalia was born Dec. 12, 1925, in rural Postville, the daughter of Lester and Lillian (Hines) Martens. She was united in marriage to Lyle R. Johnson on Nov. 20, 1944, in Rock Island, Ill. She worked at Collins Radio for 20 years, and later was a teacher's assistant at St. Jude Catholic School. She spent many years following retirement volunteering many hours to countless organizations. She was a member of Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church where she was involved with a Bible study group. She also was involved with the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed gardening and animals. Above all, her greatest enjoyment was time spent with her family. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed.
The family requests donations in Eulalia's honor are made to The Cedar Valley Humane Society, 7411 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403.
