Johnson, Carol Ann
Carol Ann Johnson, 69, of Lone Tree, passed away at her home in Lone Tree on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree. Pastor Susan Barnes and Carol Kaalberg, Parish Life coordinator, will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation for Carol will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree.
Carol Ann Riggan was born May 10, 1941, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Amanda (Seering) Riggan. Carol was a 1959 graduate of Lone Tree High School. On June 24, 1961, Carol was united in marriage to James C. Johnson in Lone Tree. Carol worked as an administrative assistant for Syngenta Seeds of Lone Tree. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Peanuts Club and the Red Hat Club.
Carol enjoyed camping, boating, shopping, morning coffee club with the girls, but most of all, Carol dearly loved taking care of her family, especially the grandchildren.
Carol will be deeply missed by her husband, Jim of Lone Tree; two children, James K. Johnson and his wife, Fran, of Lone Tree and Jamie Lorack and her husband, Tim, of Lone Tree; six grandchildren, Hannah and Holley Johnson and Amanda, J.T., Payton and Arlie Lorack; four brothers, Richard Riggan and his wife, Lois, of Ainsworth, Larry Riggan and his wife, Karma, of Des Moines, Michael Riggan and his wife, Diane, of Muscatine, and Kenny Riggan and his wife, Jan, of Ainsworth; four sisters, Marcia Blakemore and her husband, Melvin, of Harrisburg, Mo., Elizabeth Droll and her husband, Gary, of Woodland Park Colo., Virginia Lee and her husband, Lonnie, of Avon, Ill., and Sandra Kleckner and her husband, Jack, of Kingfisher, Okla.; five sisters-in-law, Sharon Riggan of Tiffin, Margaret Riggan of West Liberty, Linda Riggan of Lone Tree, Delores Riggan of Riverside and Barbara Riggan of Washington; and one brother-in-law, Richard Knebel of Iowa City.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, James, David, Lyle, Earl, William and Ronnie; and three sisters, Jeanette Riggan, Judith Pritchett and Nancy Knebel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice in memory of Carol.
