Johnnie Lee Linvell Jr., 56, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, in Gatesville, Texas. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, the United Methodist Church in Anamosa. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at the Lawrence Community Center in Anamosa.
Survivors inclue his wife, Kris (Janssen) Linvell; children, Sarah (Grant) Weaver, Jared Linvell, Devin (Mary) Coyle, Nikki (Ronnie) Bartlett and Codie (Megan Morehead) Coyle; three brothers; two sisters; and mother and stepfather, Marjorie and Chuck Spicka.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Lee Linvell Sr.
John served in the U.S. Army. He worked 28 years for the Department of Corrections as a correctional officer at the Anamosa State Penitentiary, where he made many lifelong friends. He retired in September 2016.
John was an avid bowler and golfer. He enjoyed traveling to warmer climates with his wife and son. John took pride in everything he did.
Memorials made be made to the family for their minor son.
