John Dale Wright, 83, died May 3, 2015, at Specialty Services Hospital in Pensacola, Fla., after a short illness. Services are pending.
Survivors include three daughters, Diana (Jeff) Miller, Melissa (Brian) Severson and Christina Dixon; a stepdaughter, Marcella (Mike) Johnson; three sisters, Frances White, MaryAnn (Robert) Clymer and Betty Parmer; and one brother, Bill Wright. John had 10 grandchildren, Cassandra, Trisha, Christopher, Danielle, Zachary, Maddisen, Peyten, Brandon, Jacob and Matthew; and eight great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Darlasue (Suzie); son, John David; brothers, Robert and Harold; sister, Edna Hogan; and his parents.
John was born March 2, 1932, to Forrest and Mamie (Sterling) Wright. He served in the Navy and Air Force for 22 years during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. After the military, John worked at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids, retiring in 1993. John and Sue settled in Summerdale, Ala., where he lived until his death.
