John Earl Stern Sr., 68, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at the Iowa City VA Health Care System. A memorial service will be at a later date.
Surviving are Eileen Stern; four children, John, Destiney, Shannon and Misty; a brother, Tom; two sisters, Sharon and Betty; and several grandchildren.
John was born June 18, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, to Wilbert and Betty Stern. John served his country in the United States Navy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
