John O'Connor, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center. Celebration of Life gathering will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, where there will be a 7 p.m. time for sharing. Following will be a reception at Aces & Eights, located at 62 16 Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids.
John was born Aug. 29, 1946, in Clinton, the son of John and Betty (Hansen) O'Connor. He served in the U.S. Army. John was united in marriage to Judy Pulda in 1967. They were later divorced. He later married Patricia Harris. He worked for Enos Concrete Construction as well as Skogman Construction. John enjoyed taking walks, being outdoors, woodworking, going for ice cream, raising his dogs, and most of all, spending time with his family.
John is survived by his sons, John (Tammy) O'Connor and Jason O'Connor; daughter, Stefani O'Connor; grandchildren, Josh O'Connor, Megan Valentine, Aubree O'Connor, Jacob O'Connor and Jett Meeks, all of Cedar Rapids; his siblings, Jan Hale, Mike O'Connor, Connie Gillian and Gary Countryman; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents; his wife, Patricia; and his brother, Duane Countryman.
