John Michael Horak, 73, passed away Nov. 27, 2022, peacefully with his wife Nancy and daughter Holly by his side. John was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jan. 2, 1949, to Milo and Anna Mae Horak. He graduated from Jefferson High School and went into business as Horak Motors and Autoland in Cedar Rapids. He moved his family to Florida in 1986 and became a well-known member of the used car community in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. John is remembered for his vibrant personality and knowing no stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy Horak; and his children, Jamey Lee Karr (Pasqualina), Michelle Lynn Horak, Stacie Lee Shannon (Patrick), Holly Michelle Karr, Heidi Mae Skelton-Riley (Michael), Hayley Marie Adams (Ellis), and Robin Renee Weber. He was the proud grandfather of 21 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
John’s celebration of life will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Curlew Hills Funeral Home in Palm Harbor, Fla. In lieu of flowers in John’s honor, please make memorial donations to Moffitt Cancer Center.
