John Michael Danker, 66, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away October 29, 2025 at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, IA, due to medical complications.
John was born April 1, 1959 to Lyle and Donna (McKinney) Danker in Marengo, IA. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School, Class of 1977. Following school, he moved to Cedar Rapids, working at May City Bowl. Later returning to Belle Plaine, John worked for Woody’s, then Town & Country for 27 years. Currently he was working for Grieder Beverage Depot.
John loved all sports, he was a skilled bowler and a loyal Cardinals, Colts, and Hawkeyes fan. John had a natural way with people, with his gift to gab. With a joke always ready, he could make anyone feel like a friend.
John was a member of First Congregational Church and former president of Belle Plaine Men’s Bowling Association.
He is survived by his siblings, Linda (Gerald) Muench of Luzerne, Tom (Robin) Danker of Belle Plaine, David Danker of Iowa City, Tricia (Dan) Foley of Belle Plaine, Marsha (Steve) Vargason of Keystone; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family, and friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Amy Jo Danker.
Celebration of Life is 12-4 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025 the Belle Plaine American Legion. Private family graveside service will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolence can be sent to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com.
John’s family would like to thank the caregivers at St. Luke’s and St. Luke’s Hospice, Belle Plaine Ambulance and a special thank-you to Lynn and Scotty Markham for their friendship and care shown to John.
