John “Johnny” Garth Von Ahsen, 43, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away at his home on September 30th, 2025. Born on December 20th, 1981, in Iowa City, Iowa, and raised in Williamsburg, Iowa, John graduated from Williamsburg High School in 2000 and from Kirkwood Community College in 2002. John had a very successful career in digital, print, and television media sales. With a lively personality and a genuine love for social connection, Johnny was the life of every gathering. His contagious laughter, stories, and kindness brought people together, created cherished memories, and long-lasting friendships. Johnny embraced life with a sense of adventure and enthusiasm that was truly infectious. Whether carving down snowy slopes, hiking rugged trails, or perfecting his golf swing, he thrived in the outdoors and never turned down a challenge. Off the trails, he found equal joy in the kitchen, where he loved experimenting with new recipes, and in the gym, where he stayed active and motivated. His passions reflected his bold spirit and his love for living life to the fullest.
John is survived by his parents Garth and Vickie Von Ahsen; brother Josh Von Ahsen, his sister Jane Van Zee and her husband Brett; his niece and nephew Kate and Will Van Zee; and grandmother, June Von Ahsen. John is preceded in death by his sister, Anna Marie, and his grandparents Harvey Von Ahsen and Bob & Jane Vevera.

A private family service and burial will follow at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Interparish School in his honor. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
