JOHN J. HAUGLAND
Solon
John J. Haugland, 93, of Solon, died Friday, March 11, 2022, in his home following a long illness. Graveside services were held at Oakland Cemetery in Solon. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon is serving the family.
John was born Dec. 25, 1928, on the farm in Chariton, to John and Florence (Wohlwend) Hoover. At the age of 11, he was adopted by Eric and Edna Haugland. He married Carol Petrie on June 29, 1956. After her passing, John married Barbara Hinz on May 23, 1992. John worked construction most of his life. John had many interests and enjoyed gardening, his apple trees and woodworking. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara; children, Scott Haugland, Teresa (Jeff) Sedlacek and Brett (Lisa) Haugland; stepson, James (Amy) Hinz; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Ronnie (Barb), Doyle (Janet), Kenneth and Vivian (Dan); and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol, in 1985; infant son, Michael; daughter, Karen Kottman; and siblings, Loretta, Betty, Keith, Sandra, Shirley and Vern.
