Dad loved to travel the United States with Mom at the drop of the hat and checking out any local casino that was nearby along with local cuisine. He loved babies especially his grand and great-
grandchildren along with animals especially his service dog Pheonix. He was a good guy that would help anyone along with being a jokester and he could BS with the best of them! He was in the Navy for 3 years and then reenlisted later as a Sea Bee and spent 2 tours in Vietnam. He worked for the railroad, Johnson gas company, taught welding at Kirkwood, self-employed in the family business (salvaging train cars) and Civil Service jobs.
John was survived by his children Deb Sheldon (Tom), Mike Herman (Christina), Edward Herman (Teresa), Linda Cordero (Dan Williams), brothers; Marvin Herman (Sharon), sister; Paula Herman, grandchildren; Scott, Andrew, Holly, Christy. Leslie, Kenny, Gregory. Jennifer, Sandi. Jessica. Great-grandchildren, Gregory, Dayna, Drew. Amelia, William, Aria, Eli, Layla, Nora. Makenna, Lora. Brecken, Sutton, Briar, Odin. Many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Hillary Herman, parents, Vesta Herman, Lyle Herman. Sisters; Artis Hubbard, Naomi Brown and Charlene Wilson & brother, Ronald Herman.
We would like to thank his aids who lovingly cared for him and helped keep him in his home, Windy, Michelle, Jenny and Chris. Without you ladies we wouldn't have been successful. Mercy Hospice, without your help he wouldn't have also been able to stay home and be comfortable in his last days. Pam, Carmen, Sue and Kelly. I am sorry if I forgot anyone. We are grateful for all who were there. The VA was also helpful with their Palliative Care staff and those that helped direct us where to go for assistance. His PCP office, Jackie Reager and staff were wonderful.
