John Heasley, 73, of Iowa City, passed away on April 21, 2023, at home surrounded by family.
John was born on July 25, 1949, in Cedar Rapids to John and Germaine (Van Ert) Heasley. He attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School and Alton Military School. Following graduation from Regis High School, John attended Iowa State University before transferring to the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. He spent his career practicing in Eastern Iowa before retiring in 2013.
On Oct. 27, 1984, John married Chrystal Davis, with whom he had two daughters.
John enjoyed exercising his creativity in his free time through painting, and in his work by starting a business after designing his own dental instruments. He also loved the water - some of his other passions including swimming, fiIhing, and scuba diving.
John is survived by his wife, Chrystal; daughters, Catherine Heasley and Elizabeth (Jake) Swails; sister, Charmaine Svoboda and her children, Bryan and Amy. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per John's wishes, cremation has been accorded and private graveside services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to Iowa City Hospice and online condolences may be shared at www.lensingfuneral.com.
