John G. McKean
Cedar Rapids
John G. McKean, born March 3, 1945, in Marion, Iowa, to Allen B. and Evelyn McKean, passed away December 9, 2025.

In 1968, John married Judy Lewis from Cedar Rapids. They eventually moved to Ely with their family and owned and operated a Pepperidge Farm business for 13 years. In 1985, the family moved to Texas, where they owned a boat dealership for 35 years on Cedar Creek Lake
John is survived by his wife Judy, his son Derek McKean of Ft. Worth, TX, his daughter Misty and her husband Michael Hoyt of Plano, TX, granddaughter Rhylie Mullin, grandsons John Michael Hoyt, Aidan and Liam McKean as well as great-grandsons Xavier and Elijah Hoyt.
He was preceded in death by his brother James McKean and nephew Jonathan Sean McKean.
Since John loved nothing more than creating and passing on great stories, the family would most appreciate stories emailed to John.G.McKean@gmail.com. Better yet, deliver those stories in person. Be on the lookout for memorial service details.
