John Franklin, 90, of Afton, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015. Celebration of Life services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Afton Assembly of God Church. Pastor William Richardson will officiate. Powers Funeral Home in Afton is in charge of arrangements.

John was employed by Howard R. Green in Cedar Rapids and was transferred to the Creston office in 1982.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Franklin of Afton; children, John (Judy) Franklin of Des Moines, Steven (Gina) Franklin of Marion, David (Carol) Franklin of Palo, Michael (Linda) Franklin of Lancaster, Calif., Gerald (Jennifer) Franklin of DePere, Wis., Jaynee (Duwaine) Wolfe of Lincoln, Neb., Patricia (Jon) Sheldon of Shellsburg and Amy (Kurtis) Kiburz of Afton; 20 grandchildren; and 17 ½ great-grandchildren.
