JOHN ERLACHER

John David Erlacher, 65, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at The Flamingo, 1211 Ellis Blvd. NW, Cedar Rapids. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Survivors include his wife, Laurie; son, Casey (Amber) Erlacher of Oneida, Ill.; daughter, Dana (Jonathan) Groff of Cedar Rapids; mother, Martha Erlacher of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Cyndel Burns and Faith, Grant, Ella and Megyn Erlacher; sister, Kris (Russ) Beck of Cedar Rapids; and brother, Terry Erlacher of Manassas, Va.
He was preceded in death by his father, John (Jack) Erlacher, and brother, Tommy Erlacher.
John David Erlacher was born Dec. 9, 1949, in Walnut Ridge, Ark. On Aug. 7, 1971, he married Laurie Godwin in Cedar Rapids. John worked as a cook for many years in area restaurants, including The Flamingo (1976-1984) and Stillwater Restaurant (1984-1996). Most recently he had worked at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was an avid sports fan, especially watching golf, and enjoyed trips to the Riverside Casino.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
