John Edward Kolowinski, 91, of Marion, Iowa passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Hiawatha Care Center. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, January 10 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 11 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
John was born on February 7, 1933, in Farmersburg, Iowa, the son of Harry “Jake” and Pearl (Pixler) Kolowinski. He served honorably in the United State Navy from 1952 until 1956. After his service, he was then employed with Linn County Rural Electic Cooperative as an Underground Technician from 1962 until 1994. He was united in marriage to Eunice Hawkins on May 17, 1952, in Waukon, Iowa. John enjoyed fishing, sports, bowling, and hunting. His greatest love was time spent with his family.
John is survived by, his loving wife of 72 years, Eunice; four daughters, Rose Kolowinski, Linda (Bill) Ross, Cindy Frederickson, and Tammy Allgor all of Marion, Iowa; three granddaughters, Stacey, Amanda, and Shianne; a grandson, Jon; two great-grandsons, Holdyn and Nathan; three great-granddaughters, Bentleigh, Max, Ashley; and many loving extended family members.
He was preceded by his parents, one sister, Eudora, a granddaughter, Rebecca, and half-siblings, Lois and Donald.
