John "Dick" Doyle, 79,
of Toledo, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 9, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 8. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Dick was born on Feb. 12, 1936, in Tama, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Gertrude (Duffy) Doyle. He graduated from Toledo High School in 1954. On Nov. 23, 1957, he was united in marriage to Carolee Hennesy at the St. Patrick Catholic Church Rectory in Tama. Dick was a machining programmer for 35 years at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown. After his retirement, he worked at the Meskwaki Bingo & Casino for 13 years. Dick was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, where he was an usher. He was one of the organizing members of the Jaycees and was a member of the Tama-Toledo Country Club.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carolee of Toledo; five children, Kirk (Shelly) Doyle of Carrollton, Texas, Cary (Joyce) Doyle of Attica, Mich., Joel (Lori) Doyle of Des Moines, Eric (Julie) Doyle of Lake City, Minn., and Amy Doyle of Toledo; eight grandchildren, Luke and Alex Doyle, Kyle (Stephanie) Doyle, Sara (James) Bambard, Kaitlin and Andrew Doyle, Anthony (Lyndie) Brandt and Shelby Doyle; eight great-grandchildren, Makayla, MaKenzie and Kaulin Doyle, Madison, James, Lily and Brooklyn Bambard and Jase Brandt; his siblings, Gene (Sandra) Doyle of Cedar Falls, Mark (Alice) Doyle of Cedar Rapids, Mary Doyle of California and Sandra (Dennis) Zmolek of Marshalltown; one aunt, Edna Doyle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and one brother, Joseph Doyle.
Memorials may be directed to the Toledo ambulance or a charity of choice.
