John Joseph Doyle, 73, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014, at his residence following a period of declining health. Mr. Doyle was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids and attended Sacred Heart Cathedral in Knoxville. A retired teamster, he finished his career after many years as an employee of Briggs Transportation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Murphy Doyle and Edward Daniel Doyle.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon Lee Doyle; children and their spouses, Daniel and Tammy Doyle, Colleen Doyle and Laura and Dan Anderson; grandchildren, Connor Doyle, Sean Doyle, Matthew Doyle, Jessica Doyle, Morgan Abben, Bailey Abben, Troy Doyle, Ashleigh Anderson and Andrew Anderson; brother, James (Aggie) Doyle; nieces, Teri Doyle-Stussy and Shelly Doyle; and nephew, Jimmy Doyle.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Knoxville, with Father Joe Reed serving as celebrant. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Lenoir City, Tenn. The family will receive friends from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Rose Mortuary, before the funeral mass.
