JOHN J. CONNER

John J. Conner, 82, of Cascade, passed away Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade. A celebration of life and burial at Baker Cemetery will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
John was born Dec. 27, 1934, in Richmond, Va., the son of John and Mary Sue Conner. He married Margaret Shaffer on May 21, 1960, in Bolivar, Mo. They moved to Cedar Rapids in 1966. John retired from Farmstead Foods in Cedar Rapids after 25 years. He had a passion for working on all types of vehicles. John enjoyed a good Western movie and loved to spend time with his family.
John is survived by his children, John D. (Jacolyn) Conner of Fairfax, Barb (Mark) Burkhalter of Marion, Lynn (Joe) Armstrong of Urbana, Anne (Ken) Buehner of Cedar Rapids and Jim Conner of Bolivar; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; parents, John and Mary Sue; sons, Joe, James and Marvin; granddaughter, Caitlin; as well as his brothers and sisters.
