John C. Brownlie, 89, of Fairfax, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at Northbrook Manor Care Center. Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Walford,
by the Rev. Travis Borkosky. Burial: Fairfax Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
John is survived by his wife, Donna; three children, Ann (Robert) Tow, Ellen Brownlie and Alan (Germaine) Brownlie; eight grandchildren, Sherri (Larry) Selensky, Michael (Melissa) Tow, Jennifer (Cory) Pfab, Patricia Quandel, Preston (Shannon) Tobin, and Grace, John and Dustin Brownlie; and eight great-grandchildren, Natalie, Nathaniel, Hailey, Hannah, Ariana, Rachel, Bentley and Alexandra.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Malcom.
John Calvin was born on March 23, 1928, to Robert and Maren Hansen Brownlie, in Benton County. He served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. On Nov. 7, 1954, he was united in marriage to Donna Owens at Trinity Lutheran Church in Norway. John was a lifelong farmer, a DeKalb corn dealer and enjoyed woodworking. He was active on the Trinity Lutheran Church council, served on the Linn Co-op board, and was a 24-year board member of the Atkins Telephone Co.
