John E Brown, 93, passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at All Saints Catholic Church with visitation one hour before. A private burial will be at a later date at the Rock Island National Cemetery.
John was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Chicago, to John and Pauline Konetchny Brown. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a captain in the Air Force serving as navigator in B-24 and B-36 planes. He worked as a mechanical engineer until the age of 92. John especially loved working with Colony Heating and Air Conditioning the last 15 years.
During his lifetime, he enjoyed flying airplanes, golfing, skiing and biking.
He is survived by his wife, Nita; daughter, Claudia (Arron) Campbell of Plymouth, Wis.; sons, Richard (Polly) of Milford, N.H., and Robert of South Pasadena, Calif.; grandchildren, Alex, Jennifer (Neal), Jacob and Micah; and great-grandchildren, Penelope and Otto.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
