John E. Andersen, 69, of Hiawatha, died unexpectantly on Monday Sept. 29, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital. Memorial services will be held at a later date at the Church Of The King. The Rev. Donald L. Glazier will officiate. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy; three sons, Troy (Ranae) of Hiawatha, Todd of Cedar Rapids, and Tyler (Becky) of Clarksville, Tenn.; three daughters, Lisa (Zachary) Fox of Cedar Rapids, Tiffany (Alex) Campbell of Savannah, Ga., and Lynn Michaelc of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Doris Christensen of Audubon. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Esther.
John was born March 18, 1945, in Audubon, the son of Edward and Dorothy Lacey Andersen. He married Sandra L. Bosch on Feb. 27, 1965, in Linton, N.D. John was an engineer and retired from Rockwell Collins after more than 30 years of service.
He was a faithful member of Church Of The King where he was an Elder as well as being a member of American Legion Post No. 735 in Hiawatha. He also served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
John enjoyed touring the United States with Sandy in their RV, fishing at the Boundary Waters, woodworking, and especially the time spent with his beloved family and friends. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. He was a Christian man who loved the Lord Jesus Christ above all.
