Joel Phillip Rochleau, 49, passed away June 1, 2023, at his home in Marion, Iowa. A memorial service for Joel, formerly of Algona, will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Abbey Center in Bettendorf or Corridor Running.
Joel was born Aug. 21, 1973, to Roger and Louise (Paulsen) Rochleau and grew up on the family farm near Algona. Joel graduated from Algona High School and later earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business from Iowa State University. Joel spent many years working in the banking industry and was a trusted advisor to many customers. Joel was an avid sports fan and cheered proudly for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Pittsburgh Steelers and LA Dodgers. He also enjoyed following sprint car racing and got into distance running in his late 30s. One of Joel's proudest accomplishments was completing the New York City Marathon.
His biggest joy in life was his daughter, Dayton, who was born in 2013 from his union with Sarah Holstrom.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Louise.
