Joe Don Freed, 54, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at his home in Vinton, following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton. A visitation will be from 11 a.m.until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery.
Joe was born Jan. 4, 1967, in Missouri, to Arthur and Glenda Joyce (O'Neal) Freed. Joe graduated from high school in Arkansas. On April 26, 2008, he was united in marriage to Shirley Meyer at the United Methodist Church in Traer.
Joe worked as a service technician for AWE in Traer, prior to his illness. He loved the outdoors, especially camping, hunting and fishing. He was a dedicated family man. His wife, children and grandchildren were his greatest joy.
Joe is survived by his wife, Shirley; his four children, Meryia of Holland, Iowa, Tracy of Vinton, Brian of Vinton and Cindy of De Soto, Wis.; and five special granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Michelle Freed.
