Joanne Johnston, 87, of Marion, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Sept. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at the American Legion Hall, Marion, Iowa. The family will have a private burial at a later date.
Joanne is survived by her children, Kevin Kelley of Phoenix, Ariz., Dan (Dee) Kelley of Whitefish, Mont., Brad (Troy) Kelley of Battle Mountain, Nev., Doug (Judi) Kelley of Marion and Kris Weber (Craig Passick) of Independence, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Joanne) Johnston; sisters, Marilyn Kotz, Carolyn (Kenny) Herring and Kathy Johnston; and her special grandpup, Gucci.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Annabelle Johnston; sister, Maureen McQuillen; and brothers-in-law, Norman Kotz and Lyle McQuillen.
Joanne taught elementary education in the Central City School District for many years until her retirement in 1989.
