Joanne S. Holets, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Leroy Bradway will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Douglas; one daughter, Kathryn (Ed) Ponder; three sons, Leonard (Linda), Michael (Kelley) and David (Rita); two brothers, Richard (Ann) Carlson and Doug Carlson; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Joanne was born Oct. 26, 1941, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Hugo and Sylvia Haugan Carlson. She married Douglas K. Holets on April 17, 1971, in Cedar Rapids.
Joanne was an administrative assistant at Rockwell Collins for over 30 years, retiring in 1997.
Joanne was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church for over 49 years. She enjoyed gardening, genealogy, and helping her husband, Doug, with the Monarch Butterfly Project.
Joanne especially enjoyed the time spent with her beloved family and many friends. She will be greatly missed and her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to First Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
