Joanne H. Collins of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, at the age of 93. Born March 1, 1928, in West Liberty, Iowa, she was the daughter of Ray S. Heath and Leota Kerr Heath. Mrs.
Collins received her BA degree from Grinnell College in 1949. She married Thomas M. Collins in Iowa City, Iowa on April 5, 1950. The Collins' lived in Cedar Rapids, where Mr. Collins practiced with the Law Firm of Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, from 1952 to 1999 at which time they moved to Tucson, Ariz. Mr. Collins predeceased her in 2020 after 70 years of marriage. Mrs. Collins is survived by four sons, Thomas M. Collins Jr., wife Becky of Ojai, Calif., and children Emily and Bonnie; Kevin H. Collins, wife Sally Stephenson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Kirby C. Collins, wife Lisa of Atlanta, Ga., and children Caroline, Kirby Jr., Drew, Aimee and great-granddaughter Aubree; Ted Collins, wife Jo of Olathe, Kan., and children Lolo Lauren, Kripa and Amber. Mrs. Collins was predeceased by her daughter Shelley in 1968.
Mrs. Collins was active in community affairs serving as a Trustee of Brucemore; Member of the Board of the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art; Trustee of the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art and President of the Sustaining Members of the Junior League of Cedar Rapids. In Tucson, Mrs. Collins served as a member of the Advisory Council of the Tucson Museum of Art and a member of the Junior League of Tucson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's Health Care Foundation. 1026 A Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406-3026.
Mrs. Collins will be interred in Cedar Memorial Mausoleum in Cedar Rapids.
There will be no services in Cedar Rapids.
