Joanne Arlene Baumgartner, 79, of Hills, formerly of Iowa City, passed away peacefully Monday, April 14, 2025, at Atrium Village. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Monday, April 21, 2025, at Lensing’s Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road, Coralville, IA, 52241. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at South Amana Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Global United Methodist Church, Tiffin, IA.
Joanne was born on August 10, 1945, in Monticello, IA, the daughter of John and Bernice (Burrichter) Stiffler. She graduated class of 1963 from Monticello High School. Joanne remained lifelong
friends with several classmates. After high school a friend and her moved to Portland, OR for a year. She later graduated from AIC Business College in Davenport. Joanne was a waitress at the Colony Haus and also at the Gazette in advertising. She was united in marriage to Arnold Baumgartner on June 28, 1969; he preceded her in death in 2006. Joanne was a member of First Global United Methodist Church in Tiffin, IA. The most important thing in life was sharing her faith with others. Joanne loved spending time traveling with her family and attending ball games of her boys. She especially loved her family and being an Oma.
Joanne is survived by her two sons, Eric (Stephanie) Baumgartner of Williamsburg and Kevin (Heather Welle) Baumgartner of Iowa City; one sister, Marilyn (Bill) Faust of Sun City, AZ; and two grandchildren, Samantha and Ethan Baumgartner of Williamsburg.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold; and brother, Larry Stiffler.
