Joann Orean Schweitzer passed March 17, 2023, peacefully in her sleep after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce; her parents, two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter Becky Globokar of Phoenix, Ariz. (Mike, deceased); son Scott (Lisa); three grandchildren, Daniel Globokar, Kate Meyer and Thomas Shweitzer; and her sister Sarah Breident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Jo was born June 3, 1930, in Conroy, Iowa, and then lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, until after she was married. Jo and Bruce moved to Davenport, Iowa, and later to West Des Moines, Iowa. They then retired to Bella Vista, Ark., to an area where they used to come for vacations.
She was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 25 years and was a telephone pioneer. Jo enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening and travelling, and she read voraciously. She was a good friend to many people going back many years.
She will be interred at Bella Vista Cemetery beside her husband, along with her little dog, Sammy. There will be a small private gathering at that time.
