Joann Leona (Robbecke) Foley, 92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, July 2, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Stateroom.
Joann was born June 28, 1929, the daughter of Ulpian Robbecke and Mae (Tooke) Auwaerter in Green Bay, Wis. She grew up in Keokuk, Iowa, where she met her husband, Earl Foley. They were married on June 27, 1953, and enjoyed 64 years of marriage and two children, Melinda and Steve.
Joann retired from Mutual Fire and Automobile Insurance after 20 years of employment. In her spare time, Joann enjoyed reading, was an avid shopper and she played Pinochle and bridge. Joann liked to travel, whether it was a summer family vacation or a week-end getaway to visit family or friends. She was so proud of her two grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow up over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Earl; and her brother-in-law, Donald Glover.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, daughter, Melinda Foley (Todd Tipton) of Omaha, Neb.; son, Steve and Lisa (Melsa) Foley of Swisher, Iowa; grandchildren, Taylor (Tyler) Cropley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Jackson Foley of Swisher, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Shirley (Foley) Glover of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and Roberta (Foley) and Gene Howes of Hamilton, Ill.; three nieces and one nephew.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Views of Cedar Rapids MeadowView Memory Care or Hospice of Mercy in Joann's honor.
