JOANN FIESTER

JoAnn Fiester, 84, of Blairstown, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at her home. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday
at First Presbyterian Church, Blairstown, by Diane Vorhies. Burial: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday both at the church.
JoAnn is survived by her companion, Harold Alcott of Blairstown; three daughters, Dixie (Joe) Hyde of Ames, Jeri (Don) Maas of Norway and Holly Karsten of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Justin, Emily (Edward), Luke (Beth), Clint (Erica), Josi (Austin), Tyler (Cody) and McKenna (Dillon); great-grandchildren, Ivan, Fletcher, Kingston, Macoy and two on the way; sister, Jayne Roth of Blairstown; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; son-in-law, Denny Karsten; and brother, James F. Kern.
JoAnn was born March 6, 1934, in Marengo, the daughter of Lester and Mary Kern. She spent many years as a bookkeeper at the ME-TOO office and worked as a waitress at the Blairstown Cafe. Until her retirement, she was the bookkeeper at the 4 County Co-op. JoAnn was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Blairstown Legion Auxiliary.
JoAnn was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved spending time with them and watching them grow. She enjoyed reading and time spent at her church, where she was very involved.
A memorial fund has been established in JoAnn's name.
