JoAnn Dolezal, 68, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Mercy Iowa City, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services to celebrate JoAnn's life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, with Father Ed Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the JoAnn Dolezal Memorial Fund.
JoAnn was born July 6, 1946, in Des Moines, the daughter of Albino and Virginia Carzoli Ceccon. She had worked at the University of Iowa for many years, retiring in June 2010.
JoAnn is survived by her loving husband, Frank B. Dolezal Jr.; her three children, Darin Dolezal (Erin) of Lakewood, Colo., Traci Heitzman (Dan) of Hills and Dan Dolezal (Carmen) of North Liberty; and six beautiful grandchildren.
