Joan Ruth Bahm, 84, of Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully with her three daughters, her twin sister and niece by her side, after a two-year battle with cancer. Per her wishes, there will be no services.
Joan was born to Clifford and Ferne (Lane) Cayler.
Joan was a very dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Joan retired after 20 years as a secretary at Starry Elementary School in the Marion Independent School District and continued as a substitute after her retirement.
She loved working in her flower gardens, reading, shopping and being a part of the production of family films. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Donald; her parents; her two brothers, Richard and Gaylen Cayler; and two nephews.
Survivors include her daughters, Melinda (J) Myers, Melissa (Brian) Lawrence and Melody (Steven) Smith; grandchildren, Scott Alderson, Stacey (Steve) Straub, Kyle Lawrence, Ariel (Kyle) Pogue, Evan Smith and Colby Kaplan; sister, Janet Boyer; brother, Jim (Ann) Cayler; sister-in-law, Linda (John) Berthot; along with four great-grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be directed to www.myheartremembersmovie.com, a family film currently in development or UnityPoint Hospice.
The family would like to thank UnityPoint Hospice, especially Amanda for the love and care given to Joan.
