Joan Mary Rischer, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at Living Center West. Inurnment: Czech National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Joan was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, to Edwin and Mary (Suma) Seda. She was a graduate of Wilson High School. Joan was united in marriage to William H. "Bill" Rischer on Sept. 24, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, and worked as an office administrator at International Paper until her retirement.
Joan enjoyed knitting and crafting and she was quite the fisherwoman. She also loved her flower and vegetable gardens.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Lynne (Mike) Pealer of Van Horne, Iowa, and Tim (Lori) Rischer of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Aaron, Chad (Janet) Pealer, Jessica, Nicole and Abigail Rischer; and four great-grandkids, Jesse, Lexi, Sophia and Zach Pealer.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Mary.
The family would like to give a special thank-you to the caring staff at Living Center West.
