JOAN P. HORNING

Joan P. Horning, 87, of Coralville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, at Solon Nursing Care Center.
Private family services will be held. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service is handling arrangements for Joan.
Born Jan. 5, 1934, in Kearny, N.J., the daughter of George and Florence (Hansen) Anderson, Joan grew up in Kearny and graduated from Kearny high school.
Joan met and later married Frederick Horning in 1958. Joan helped raise her children and maintain the family home.
She received her nursing degree (RN) and for several years worked as a nurse, then as a nanny for several years
She enjoyed being a mom, dancing, camping with family and traveling.
Joan is survived by her children, William Horning (Debra) of Coralville, Robert Horning of Coralville, Jeff Horning (Nicole) of Iowa City, Wayne Horning of Coralville and Suzanne McCoy (James) of Troy, Texas; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Lowe (Brian), Nicole Vaughn (Jeff), Kiriana Horning, Aaron Horning, Sara McCoy and Samuel McCoy; great-grandchildren, Paisley Vaughn, Lisa Lowe, Jace Vaughn, Rowen Vaughn and Ashley Lowe; and numerous extended family friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Fred, in 2018.
