Joan Elaine Bauercamper Johnson died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
She was born Feb. 7, 1929, in Waukon, Iowa, the daughter of Leslie Lloyd Bauercamper and Ruth Carolyn Regan Bauer-camper. Joan graduated from Waukon High School in 1948. On May 20, 1950, she married Archie Gerhard Johnson at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua. After living in Clermont for a few years, Joan and Archie moved to Cedar Rapids in 1953.
They were charter members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. Joan loved to dance and enjoyed traveling. One of her many gifts was sending birthday and anniversary cards to family and friends. She loved working at Nelson's Meat Market & Deli for almost 20 years and also enjoyed volunteering at her church.
Survivors include her three children, Daniel (Theresa) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, David (Laura) Johnson of Aurora, Colo., and Debra (Mike) Williams of Homewood, Ala.; sister, Marian (Richard) Geving of Cody, Wyo.; grand-children, Jared Johnson of Auburn, Ala., and Jay Ingram of Atlanta, Ga.; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Archie, who died in 1986; and her brother, Charles Bauercamper.
Gifts may be made to St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy or Camp Courageous.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church Saturday. Inurnment will be at East Clermont Lutheran Cemetery, Clermont, at a later date.
Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Postville is assisting the family with arrangements.
