Joan “Joanie” Rae Ondler (Losch), 77 of Troutdale, Ore., formerly of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, in Troutdale, Ore., where she moved in March 2021, residing with her beloved son, Aaron.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories: 4200 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402. Visitation will be held one hour prior, beginning at 2 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Joan was born June 16, 1945, in Elkader, Iowa, to Delores (Stocks) and Francis Losch. She graduated from Marion High School in 1963. Joan married Don Ondler in March 1966.To this union her loving son Aaron was born. They divorced in 1975. Prior to her move to Oregon, Joan resided with her significant other Paul “Corky” McQuaid since 1991.
Joanie spent her career working at the Linn County Clerk of Court Office, Small Claims Division from 1981 until her retirement in 2007. In her younger years, Joan loved going out dancing with friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family which usually
included a card game of Euchre. Joan loved cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and traveled to the Rose Bowl in 2016. She liked taking pictures of nature and her garden
flowers and sharing them on Facebook. Joanie and Corky enjoyed frequenting the local casinos. She enjoyed traveling especially to Oregon to visit her son. Joan and Corky visited Alaska in 2019, a trip she had on her bucket list.
Survivors include her son, Aaron and wife, Heidi; siblings, The (5 “J’s”), James (Sharon) of Marion, Iowa, John (Donna) of Florida, Joe (Diane) and Jerri Springman (Barry), both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Harold Bailey.
Memorial funds will be established, and the family will direct them at a future date.
