JOAN LAVONE SLICKTY DRAFAHL

Joan Lavone Slickty Drafahl, 80, originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away suddenly of a short illness on Dec. 8, 2016, in Mission, Texas, where she and her husband of 61 years stayed in the winter months.
Cremation services will be held in Mission, Texas. A Celebration of Life will be held in Cedar Rapids at a later date.
She is survived by her husband, John (Jack); two children, James (Patty) Drafahl and Regina Saldana; three grandchildren, Amber Saldana, Erin (Braxton) Hakes and Ian Saldana; four great-grandchildren, Lexis, Ashton, Leila and Patrick; brother, Terry Slickty; and sisters, Gloria (Mike) Tilson and Debbie Trenkamp.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Genevieve Lutz; father, Richard Slickty; and sister, Joyce Stephenson.
She was such a kind and bubbly woman who was loved by many. Everyone will remember her famous words, "Bless your heart."
In lieu of flowers, a Joan Drafahl Memorial Fund has been established at Wells Fargo Bank.
