Joan K. Bell, 71, died at her home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, March 1, 2015. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Private family graveside services will be at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Joan's memory for Iowa City Hospice.

Joan Kay Bell was born July 28, 1943, in Iowa City, the daughter of Kenneth "Dale" Frederickson and Kathryn Irene Robinson-Frederickson. She was raised and educated near Marengo, graduating from Marengo High School in 1961. Joan graduated from the Paris Academy in Cedar Rapids and pursued a career in cosmetology.
She made her home in Iowa City and Coralville, where she and her husband owned and operated Bob Bell's service station for 27 years. Joan also worked for the Johnson County treasurer's office.
Her family includes her husband of 53 years, Bob Bell; three children, Brenda Bell of Iowa City, Jeff Bell and wife Tami of Anchorage, Alaska, and Kevin Bell and wife Molly of Iowa City; and six grandchildren, Madison, Tyler, Macy, Kathryn, Braxton and Lily.
Her parents and brother, "Gene" Frederickson, preceded her in death.
