Jo Beadles Peek, 85, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died on June 6, 2018, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home.
Jo is survived by her daughter, Brenda Boyles of West Des Moines; two grandsons, Jason (Laurie) Boyles of Marion and Joshua (Shannon) Boyles of Cedar Rapids; four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Emily, Landon and Madelyn; ex-husband, Dale E. Peek of Cedar Rapids; sister, Sharon (Marvin) Prachar of Cedar Rapids; brother, Leon Delano "Bud" (Mary) Beadles of Casper, Wyo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, David Zurbrigen.
Jo was born Belva Joann Beadles on Feb. 27, 1933, in Miller, S.D., the daughter of Fredrick and Dorothy Bowman Beadles, and graduated from Huron High School in 1950. Jo was an Air Force veteran and proudly served her country during the Korean War. Jo often recalled that on her first day of active duty, her plane crashed on the way to basic training.
Jo loved her family and will be remembered for her love of laughter. She was very active in Cedar Rapids.
