Jingst, The Rev. Alvin P.
The Rev. Alvin P. Jingst, 90, formerly of Iowa City, went to be with his Lord Thursday, March 3, 2011. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, March 7, at Faith Baptist Church in Iowa City, with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City.
Alvin's family includes his wife, Ruth; son, Charles “Chuck” (Sharon) Jingst of Des Moines; grandchildren, Allen (Amy) Jingst, Eric (Michelle) Jingst, Justin and Casey Patterson; sister, Pauline Kimble of Jerseyville, Ill.; sister-in-law, Esther Jingst of Sebring, Fla.; and Sharon Patterson, Peter's longtime friend.
Alvin was preceded in death by their son, Peter; two brothers and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Alvin's name.
