Ruth Ingram Jingst was born April 7, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of F. Charles and Caroline (Ordemann) Ingram. She was united in marriage to the Rev. Alvin P. Jingst on May 26, 1945, in Chicago. She not only was a wife and mother to her family, but was her husband's strongest supporter in his ministries. It was unusual to see Pastor Alvin without Ruth! They served the Lord in a number of states including Michigan, Kansas, and Illinois before their family settled in Iowa City in 1966. Even in retirement, the couple continued in their ministries to many in the local hospitals and care centers. They moved to the Regency Care Center in Norwalk, Iowa, several years ago.
Ruth's family includes her son, Charles “Chuck” (Sharon) Jingst of Des Moines; sister, Edith Mefferd of Joliet, Ill.; grandchildren, Allen (Amy) Jingst, Eric (Michelle) Jingst and Justin and Casey Patterson; great-grandchildren; and Sharon Patterson, Peter's longtime friend.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin (March 3, 2011); their son, Peter; and an infant brother, Arthur.
