Jimmy Dale Cornwell, 73, of Greeley, Iowa, died on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at his residence in Greeley.
He was born on June 18, 1944, in Greeley, the son of William and Dorothy (Adams) Cornwell. Jim was raised and educated in the Greeley area.
On June 12, 1965, Jim was united in marriage to Nancy Bolsinger at the Methodist Church in Greeley. Four daughters were born to this union. Jim was a railroad man who worked for the Milwaukee, Soo Line, Canada Pacific and CPR railroad companies, retiring in 2004.
For the past 20 years, Jim and Nancy enjoyed spending time at their second home at Waters Edge on the Mississippi River, making many friends who were like second family to them. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting and beer drinking. He loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Nancy Cornwell of Greeley; four daughters, Christine (Dale) Juran of Greeley, Karen (Steven) Uhlenkamp of Edgewood, Kimberly (Danny) Goranson of Greeley and Candy (Josh) Zittergruen of Strawberry Point; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Pat (Danny) Elledge of Colesburg, Doug (Carol) Cornwell of Buffalo, Mo., and Joyce (Erlin) Cooksley of Buffalo, Mo.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings, Ethel Nelson, Roy Cornwell, Clair Cornwell, Jerry Cornwell, Mary Parks, Eldrid Hammond and an infant sister, Elaine Cornwell; one son-in-law, Steven Bailey; and his father- and mother-in-law, Elmer and Lorraine Bolsinger.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the Greeley United Methodist Church in Greeley, Iowa, with Pastor Mike Jackson officiating.
Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood, Iowa. Friends also may call one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.
Interment: Grant View Cemetery, Greeley, Iowa.
