Jill was born at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids on June 14, 1988, the daughter of Craig and Vicki (Sloan) Shadle. She was baptized and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Marion. Jill graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 2006. During high school, Jill was active in cross country, track and the show choir crew. She worked at Little Learners and volunteered at KEY Club helping children in need.
Jill graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, where she achieved her bachelor's degree in social work in 2011. After graduation she worked as a social worker at Lutheran Services, Waterloo.
