Jessie Jean Christy, 89, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe.
Jessie was born the daughter of Gim and Maude (Adams) Adams on Dec. 29, 1926, in Farson, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Harry Robert Christy on July 27, 1944, in Eddyville. They were married for 72 years. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2016.
Jessie worked as an assembly worker for Rockwell Collins for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include four beloved daughters, Deborah Twesten and husband Jim of Linneus, Mo., Norma Jean Mitchell and husband John of Atkins, Barbara Orr of Baird, Texas, and Peggy Davis and husband Michael of Ocala, Fla.; one son, Don Christy and wife Lorie of Marengo; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and one son-in-law, Dennis Wiley of Palo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; one daughter, Cheryl Wiley; son-in-law, Bob Orr; six sisters, Elizabeth Crawford, Hazel Ward, Ruth Burnes, Pauline Davis, Bess Johnson and Bettie Smith; and four brothers, Everett Adams, Howard Adams, Clarence Adams and Glen Adams.
Graveside services will be in Meadville Cemetery, Meadville, Mo., at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 12. A scheduled family visitation will be at Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home on Monday, April 11, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
