Mrs. Jessie M. Hillsman, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 2, 2015, surrounded by her family at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, with visitation from 9 until 11 a.m. at Mount Zion M.B. Church, 6621 C Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Dr. Damian M. Epps officiating pastor. Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Jessie was born Oct. 7, 1925, to Eather and Mattie (Clark) Hunt in McLemoresville, Tenn. She was united in marriage to Lincoln Hillsman on Dec. 20, 1941, in Caruthersville, Mo. From this union four children were born.
Survivors inclue one son, Marvin (Peggy) Hillsman of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Darlene Crawford of Cedar Rapids and Juanita Hillsman of Round Lake, Ill.; one sister, Gurtrude Luter of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Madeline Downs; and two siblings.
